Hosting
The site is served by GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open the site, GitHub processes technically necessary data, including your IP address, to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. GitHub may store this data in server log files. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the site securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
This may involve transferring data to the USA. GitHub states that it is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and also relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Details are in GitHub's privacy statement.
Contact by email
When you write to us, we process your email address and the content of your message to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to a contract, and otherwise our legitimate interest in replying (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Email sent to addresses at synblob.com is forwarded to our mailbox by the forwarding service of our domain registrar, Namecheap, Inc. (USA). This may involve transferring data to the USA. We delete your message once it is no longer needed to handle your request and no statutory retention period applies.
Storage in your browser
The site stores nothing in your browser. The only exception: if you open the hidden animation settings with the “g” key and change values there, those values are saved in your browser's local storage so they persist on your next visit. They never leave your device and can be cleared with “reset to defaults” or in your browser settings.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) (Art. 21). Just write to hello@synblob.com.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.
